Soul Revolver began in 2005 with a fascination for 1970s leather jacket design. The era produced bold proportions, curved collars, strong seam work, and jackets with real presence. We were drawn to that character.
Like many fans of vintage fashion, we spent countless hours searching through charity shops, thrift stores, markets, and later online auctions looking for the right piece. Occasionally, we would find something close to what we had in mind. The style was right, but the fit was not. Sleeves too short. Linings worn out. Hardware unreliable. The jacket had history, but it also had compromise.
We wanted the character of vintage without the limitations of age.
So we began designing our own men’s leather jackets. The aim was not to recreate old garments exactly as they were, but to preserve their proportions and attitude while improving fit, durability, and material quality. We focused heavily on cut. The jacket needed to sit correctly on the shoulders, shape the torso cleanly, and keep the sleeves slim without restricting movement. The collar had to retain the curved 70s feel, but without exaggeration. Balanced. Intentional.
In the early years, we worked exclusively with cowhide for its durability and correct weight. The construction has proven itself over time, with many of our earliest customers still wearing their original Soul Revolver jackets today.
As the brand developed, so did our materials. We introduced premium lambskin and calfskin, custom specified to achieve the balance of structure and comfort we expect from our jackets. Lambskin offers adaptability and softness while maintaining strength. Calfskin provides greater grain definition and presence. Later, we expanded into men’s cotton jackets, built with the same attention to proportion and material integrity as our leather styles.
Alongside our original designs, we are long-time film enthusiasts. Seeing a jacket on screen and wishing it existed beyond the film led us to develop a carefully studied range of replica jackets. We examine original costumes through stills, interviews, and production references, refining pattern and detailing until the result reflects the spirit of the original while remaining practical for everyday wear.
Today, Soul Revolver produces men’s leather and cotton jackets informed by vintage influence but refined for modern standards. Our focus remains consistent: strong proportions, quality materials, and construction designed to hold its shape over time.
Vintage may have been the origin. What we build today is the evolution.
